In 2017 Jeffrey founded his consulting practice JM Garrett Learning Group, LLC which provides a range of customized, high quality consulting services to school leaders, school system leaders, teacher leaders and teacher teams, and to education non profits.
We believe that if there were a silver bullet in education, we’d have found it already. Each school, team, and organization is unique, and needs consulting services tailored to meet your particular needs.
JM Garrett Learning Group’s work is grounded in an unshakeable belief in what is possible for students when the educators around them have the tools, resources, training, and conditions for success.
About Jeffrey Garrett
Jeffrey Garrett has had a 20 year career in education as a high school social studies teacher, instructional leadership coach, assistant principal, and principal in New York City. For the last 8 years he has overseen leadership development for principals, APs, and teacher leaders for a network of district schools in Los Angeles, which works to support school transformation in the city’s longest underserved communities.
Through his consulting practice, Jeffrey has worked with school leaders, teacher leaders, and districts across the country in a variety of capacities, supporting innovative approaches to building and sustaining high quality secondary schools that work to intentionally close equity gaps and address our nation’s history of undeserving low income, Black, brown, and immigrant communities.
Jeffrey began his career as a college admissions officer at his alma mater Dartmouth College, and earned his Master’s at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. A native of Saint Paul, Minnesota and having attended public schools from K-12 himself, Jeffrey firmly believes in the importance of a high quality, public education in a democratic society.

All of the Above is an education talk show available as both video and podcast. Hosted by the lively duo of high school history teacher Manuel Rustin and veteran principal-leader Jeffrey Garrett, the show provides insightful and concise analysis of critical issues impacting our schools.
